Embroidered silk brocade robe from Korea
Story of the block
This women’s embroidered silk robe is one of the traditional Korean costumes, known as Hanbok. For a long time, Hanbok has remained the same style with only minor changes on the length of “chogori” or a jacket and the width of “chima” or a wrap-around skirt. Hanbok is usually made of silk or cotton, and the colors of the jacket string and sleeve represent the status of women. Hanbok is always round and calm with the harmony of its colors, carrying the spirit of Korean people. Today Hanbok is worn for special occasion such as wedding days and national holidays.
